Weather Alerts Issued for Delhi Amidst Rainfall

Parts of Delhi are under a red alert due to ongoing rainfall and possible disruptions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued these alerts on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The weather alerts were valid until 1:30 PM.

The IMD has issued a red alert for North Delhi, North West Delhi, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, West Delhi, and South West Delhi. These areas can expect moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail, with wind speeds reaching 40-60 kmph.

An orange alert has been issued for South East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, Shahdara, and East Delhi, forecasting moderate rain and thunderstorms.

Light to moderate rain was observed in parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday. The weather department forecasts partly cloudy skies with rain or thundershowers in areas including Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad.

Airline Advisory

Airlines including Akasa Air, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have issued travel advisories, advising passengers to take precautions before traveling to Delhi airport. Flight operations may be affected due to the weather conditions.

Temperature and Air Quality

The rain is expected to provide relief from the deteriorating air quality in Delhi. On Tuesday morning, the city's air quality fell back into the 'very poor' category, with an AQI reading of 310. The minimum temperature was 8 degrees Celsius, and the maximum is expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius.

Forecast

The weather bureau also warned of thunderstorms, lightning and hail in Delhi-NCR, with winds expected to reach 40–50 kmph and gusts up to 60 kmph on Tuesday.
